What do you bid now?

A. If you have a bid to show a strong black two-suiter, by all means use that now. If not, it might seem that a takeout double or a one-spade overcall fits the bill. But what if the next bid is four hearts, passed to you? Avoid that ugly problem by overcalling two clubs! That allows you to introduce your second suit, spades here, at the four-level and complete the description of your hand.

Partner opens the bidding with one heart. What do you respond?

A. If you selected one spade, what are you going to bid after partner rebids two diamonds? If you correct to two hearts, how is partner supposed to know that you have three-card support headed by one of the three top honors? Avoid this problem by raising to two hearts at your first turn.
