Local 2243 retirees to meet at union hall

WARREN — The retirees of Local 2243 of the United Steelworkers of America will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday at the USW Local 1375 union hall at 684 N. Park Ave. The guest speaker will be Cathy Balkow from the American Red Cross. The retirees are former workers at Copperweld Steel.

Union takes applications for an apprenticeship

BOARDMAN — The Sheet Metal Workers Local 33 will accept applications for apprenticeship in the field of heating, ventilating and air conditioning. Starting wages are $12.04, the union said.

Applications will be taken at the union hall at 200 McClurg Road from 3 to 8 p.m. May 28 and 29, from 2 to 6 p.m. May 30 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 31. The application fee is $20. Applicants must bring a high school transcript, high school diploma or equivalent, birth certificate and driver’s license. For more information, call (330) 758-3393.
