Flower, yard and bake sale to benefit children, families

MERCER, Pa. — A combination flower, yard and bake sale will be sponsored by the Friends of Children’s Aid Society of Mercer County from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday on the grounds of the agency, 350 W. Market St., three blocks west of the courthouse.

Among the items offered will be:

UGeraniums in a variety of colors and ranging in price from $2.75 for a 41‚Ñ2-inch pot to $32 for a flat containing 15 of the pots.

UHanging 10-inch baskets of colorful annuals and 10-inch upright patio terra cotta-look pots with geraniums, spike and assorted annuals for $15 each.

UPansies for $12 a basket, $8.50 in 12-inch bowls and $12 in 14-inch bowls.

UHerbs and vegetable plants will also be available.

Preordered flowers will be ready for pickup after noon Thursday or during sale hours Friday.

A Chinese auction of more than 100 items will take place during the sale, with drawings to begin at 3 p.m.

Contributions of children’s clothing, books, toys and furniture (no adult clothing) for the yard sale are being accepted through Wednesday at the agency.

Funds from the sales and auction will directly benefit the CAS, a nonprofit agency dedicated to providing services to improve the quality of life for children and families. With the support of the community, the Friends has contributed $8,400 to the CAS during the past year for its programs and services.
