East Palestine makes it a clean sweep at Clipper Invitational


COLUMBIANA — East Palestine High School’s boys and girls won titles with 140 and 126 points, respectively, while 14 meet and nine stadium records were set at the Clipper Invitational track and field meet Saturday at the Columbiana Ward Athletic Complex.

Kali George of East Palestine set a meet-stadium record in winning the 400 (62.2 seconds).

Samantha Hamilton of Jackson-Milton (5:30.4) took first place in the 1600, a meet and stadium record, and she won the 3200 (11:59.3), also a meet and stadium record. Morgan Bonekovic of Brookfield set meet records in the shot put (37 feet, 6 inches) and discus (115-0).

Tiara Bivins of Streetsboro took first place in the 100 and 200 and was a member of the winning 4x100 relay.

Shane Peterson of East Palestine, with a winning efford (5-10), tied the high jump record and he took the 400 (52.8). Jeff Farkas of East Palestine set meet and stadium records in the high hurdles (14.7) and 300 hurdles (41.2).

Kasey Schwing of Streetsboro took the 100 (11.1) and 200 (41.2). Clay Brown of Malvern took first place in the 800 in a record (2:02.9).
