Construction to begin at Realty Towers

YOUNGSTOWN — The Frangos Group will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday to announce the start of construction at Realty Towers, 47 Central Federal St.

The company plans to convert the building into 25 upscale apartments, primarily to attract young professionals to live in the city’s downtown. The public is invited.

Library hours change

WARREN — The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library will discontinue Sunday hours from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend.

The library, 444 Mahoning Ave., will be closed Sundays beginning May 25 and resume fall/winter hours Sept. 7.

The summer hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Fridays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library will be closed May 26 for Memorial Day.

Grant awarded

YOUNGSTOWN – Beatitude House, a live-in facility for homeless women and their children, has received a $5,000 grant from the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, Ill., that will be used to help support the facility’s career and education program, The Potter’s Wheel.

Beatitude House, sponsored by the Ursuline Sisters, has 100 people living at it at any time. It helps Mahoning Valley women get off public assistance and become economically and emotionally self-sufficient.

Grand opening

LIBERTY — The Youngstown Campus of National College, 3487 Belmont Ave., will celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5 p.m. Thursday. Youngstown Mayor Jay Williams will be the guest speaker, and the campus will have an open house from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The campus had its first classes in September 2007 and enrolls 261 students. It offers nine associate degrees and eight diploma programs in a variety of fields in business, computers and health care.

The campus underwent a $1.4-million renovation and is one of four National College campuses in Ohio.
