Workshops set on Latino immigrant issues

YOUNGSTOWN — The Office of Social Action/Migration and Refugee Services of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Youngstown, in partnership with the Immigrant Worker Project, has concluded a demographic survey of new Latino immigrants to the Mahoning Valley Area.

Three workshops with the theme “New Immigrants in Tri-County Area: Global Landscapes and Local Contexts” are planned. “Causes and Contexts” will be at 7 p.m. May 19, “Social Services: Needs and Gifts” at 3 p.m. June 23 and “Work Issues” at 7 p.m. June 23. The sessions will analyze different aspects of the study and offer input from experts in the Valley who work with newcomers from other parts of the world.

All three workshops will be at the Youngstown Steel Museum, 151 W. Wood Street. They are free and to the public. This project was made possible through funding from the Raymond John Wean Foundation.
