YOUNGSTOWN — Women Hand In Hand will have its 22nd Annual Scholarship Brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 17 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church hall, 343 Via Mount Carmel Ave.
The guest speaker will be Sonja Williams, wife of Youngstown Mayor Jay Williams.
Mrs. Williams has dedicated her career to teaching and working with “at-risk” students, so that they may reach their full potential.

St. Christine’s members plan benefit flower sale
YOUNGSTOWN — Members of the parish council and committees at St. Christine Church, 3165 S. Schenley Ave., will sponsor a benefit carnation sale after Masses today and Sunday.
The flowers cost $1 each, and proceeds will go to the Sojourner House, a shelter for battered people, and efforts to educate people about domestic violence.
Homeowners, citizens to meet May 13
YOUNGSTOWN — Northeast Homeowners and Concerned Citizens Association will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Price Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 920 Dryden Ave. Guest speakers will be Atty. Lori L. Shells-Conne, assistant prosecutor, who will provide information on Mahoning County Children Services Board, and Lisa Williams, community organizer, who will give a presentation on “Predatory Lending” and explain the functions of Empowering and Strengthening Ohio’s People.

Highway Tabernacle plans weekend golf outing
AUSTINTOWN — Highway Tabernacle Church, 3000 S. Raccoon Road, is sponsoring a Father’s Day Weekend Golf Outing on June 14 at the Flying “B” Golf Course, 13223 Middletown Road, Salem.
The four-person scramble will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start, and the entry fee is $60 per person. There is an $800 cash prize for first place, $400 cash prize for second place and a $10,000 hole-in-one prize.

Parish festival, dinner scheduled in Garrettsville
GARRETTSVILLE — St. Ambrose Parish, 10692 Freedom St., has scheduled its 49th annual festival and chicken dinner for the weekend of June 28 and 29.
Festival hours will be 2 to 10 p.m. June 28 and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 29. Featured will be a Chinese auction, bingo, children’s games and casino games. There will also be raffles for prizes including $100 to $1,000, crocheted afghans, a handmade quilt, and a John Deere lawn tractor.
Chicken dinners will be served from 2 to 8 p.m. June 28 and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 29. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children. Takeouts will be available.
Music and karaoke will be provided from 5 to 9 p.m. June 28, and beginning at 10 p.m. there will be fireworks. The “Voice of Faith,” a contemporary Christian music group, will entertain at 3:30 p.m. June 29.
