Riding with Dave Blaney
Last week: The Hartford native qualified in the 17th spot for the Crown Royal Presents the Dan Lowry 400 at Richmond International Raceway. Blaney drove the Caterpillar Toyota to an 18th-place finish in Saturday night’s event, earning the Bill Davis Racing team its best finish of the season thus far. With his finish, Blaney advanced to 34th place in the driver standings, and BDR moved within 71 points of 35th place in the owners’ point standings, which is coveted for qualifying.
At Darlington: In last year’s race, Blaney started 27th and steadily moved his way through the field. He led for two laps and spent 28 laps in the top 15 before fading to a 32nd-place finish, 12 laps off the pace of winner Jeff Gordon.
