Egelsky’s two-hitter helps Hubbard clinch share of TAC
NEWTON FALLS — Kara Egelsky pitched a two-hitter Thursday as the Hubbard High softball team earned a share of the Trumbull Athletic Conference title with a 4-1 victory over Newton Falls.
Egelsky struck out 10 and walked two, giving up an unearned run.
Gabby Flynn had three hits and Jessica Lunt added a two-run homer for the Eagles (16-5, 12-1).
Today at 4:30, the Eagles close their TAC season with a game at Champion.
Mooney 6, Edison 1
BOARDMAN — Winning pitcher Kelcie Herberger (7-2) tossed a three-hitter, striking out seven and walking two.
Christina Hrehor homered and drove in three runs while Kristen Stahl hit two doubles. Katie Hughes and Krissy Cormell also doubled for the Cardinals (18-5).
For Edison, Autumn Bendle hit a RBI double.

YOUNGSTOWN — Winning pitcher Cori Pavlicko tossed a one-hitter and hit two doubles to drive in three runs. She struck out 15 batters and walked six.
Nicole Stoddard had three hits and three RBIs while Jill Cholensky and Brooke Pallozzi doubled.
Springfield 5, South Range 0
NEW MIDDLETOWN — Junior Erica Burkey had seven strikeouts in the shutout.
Sophomore Andria Lyons had two singles and an RBI while junior Breanne Mincher had two singles for Springfield (11-9, 8-4 Inter Tri-County League Tier One).
Caitlin Carter had two singles for South Range (10-10, 4-7).

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Winning pitcher Todd Kibby (6-1) hit a three-run homer for the Tigers (20-5, 13-1 ITCL). Kibby struck out 16 batters and walked one.
Frank Sferra’s two hits included a triple and he scored one run for the league champions.
For the Raiders, Gerrard Rohan had two hits and Tom Biroschak had the RBI.
Ursuline 12, Columbiana 0
STRUTHERS — Wade Daniels hit a RBI triple and finished with two hits and three RBIs for the Irish (17-5).
Nick McGahagan’s two hits brought home two baserunners and included a double.
Also with two hits was Joe Wielbruda.
For the Clippers (10-12), Josh Herold doubled and singled.
Wednesday
Canfield 8, Howland 7
NILES — Canfield held off Howland in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat the Tigers for a second time this season in the Metro Athletic áonference game at Eastwood Field.
Howland had the bases loaded with two outs in the bottom of the seventh when Matt Schultz’s grounder went off the tip of the pitcher’s glove. Second baseman John Manzoian dived to stop the ball and flip it to shortstop Andrew Zunic to end the game.
Dan Banna had three hits and two RBIs, Jake Kucek had a single and double, Jared Turocy and Mark Carrocce each had two hits for the Cards, who went unbeaten in MAC play for the second-straight season.
For Howland (11-11, 5-7 MAC), Joe Aulizia had three singles and an RBI. Vince Villio had a double and single and two RBIs while Andy Zigmont had a double and single.
