Streets to be closed for fundraiser

WARREN — A number of downtown streets will be closed beginning today through Monday morning for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event at Courthouse Park.

The relay will begin at 6 p.m. Friday and end Saturday.

The city operations department said the streets that will be closed are West Market Street, from North Park Avenue to Mahoning Avenue; Mahoning, from West Market to High Street; High, from Mahoning to North Park; and Harmon Avenue, from High to Monroe Street. Those streets will reopen Monday morning

The west parking lane along North Park, between East Market Street and High, will be closed, but two-lane traffic will be maintained. Parked vehicles will be towed, the operations department press release says.

As part of a six-month, 48-state tour, the Fight Back Express bus will stop at the park Friday.

The bus, sponsored by the ACS, is a mobile action center where visitors can share their story with their elected officials through the electronic Picture-A-Cure program and sign a petition seeking quality health care to all Americans.
