“Hear and Now” (8 p.m., HBO): “Hear and Now” is the deeply intimate account

“Hear and Now” (8 p.m., HBO): “Hear and Now” is the deeply intimate account of Paul and Sally Taylor, a deaf couple who, in their 60s, underwent risky cochlear implant surgery. Their journey from a comfortable marriage of silence into a new and complex world of sound is chronicled by their daughter, Irene Taylor Brodsky. The film captured an Audience Award at last year’s Sundance Film Festival.

“CSI” (9 p.m., CBS): A sitcom star is murdered in this story penned by the writers of “Two and a Half Men.”

“Tougher in Alaska” (10 p.m., History): Weather, terrain and distance shape every aspect of life in the 49th state. This new weekly series follows individual expeditions, showing how Alaskans get things done on a day-to-day basis despite the often-harsh climate. The show also will look at how Alaskan pioneers adapted to their environment.
