staff report
MERCER, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police have a description of the vehicle they believe was involved in a hit-and-run crash that critically injured a 22-year-old Amish man.
Erven A. Byler of Hartstown in Crawford County remained in critical condition Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he was taken after the crash at 12:50 a.m. Monday just east of Huey Road on state Route 358 in Perry Township, Mercer County.
Police said the vehicle that hit Byler’s horse-drawn buggy from behind might be an early 1980s Chevrolet van or similar vehicle. It is possibly gray or blue.
It would have heavy front-end damage, including the grill area, a headlight and turn signal. It is possibly missing a fender flare.
Police are seeking information about the crash, which threw Byler 50 feet from his buggy and killed his horse.
Call (724) 662-6162. Callers can remain anonymous, state police said.
