May 1

Fraud: A Becky Court woman reported receiving numerous calls in which a man claimed she was selected as a second-place winner of $5.5 million. The woman told police she was to have sent $500 to a man in Jamaica to collect her winnings.

Arrest: A Boardman woman, 48, was taken into custody as part of a traffic stop on a warrant charging her with falsification.

Identity theft: A Green Bay Drive man discovered someone used his personal information to take out eight loans at several banks totaling roughly $50,000.

Stolen property: A man found out several video games and two game systems missing from his Poland residence were sold to a Southern Park Mall store. The items were recovered.

Theft: A man rented but failed to return a 10-inch, $1,000 aluminum brake from Rental Corral, 4627 Market St.

Arrest: A 21-year-old Lemans Drive man was issued a summons on a child-endangering charge after a 3-year-old girl was seen walking outdoors without supervision. The girl was left alone in an apartment, apparently unlocked a door and left without anyone’s knowledge, the report said.

Drugs: A 51-year-old Youngstown woman faced two counts of possession of drug-abuse instruments and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia after being pulled over on Market Street.

Domestic violence: Officers picked up a Youngstown man, 42, near Market Street who was wanted on a charge. Earlier, a woman alleged her husband threatened over the phone to kill her.

Felonious assault: Police, with help from U.S. Marshals Service, arrested a 17-year-old Youngstown boy at Chaney High School on a warrant from the township charging him with the crime.

Fraud: A Clifton Drive man reported receiving a letter stating his wife had won $42,050, and that he made a call to an out-of-state credit union verifying it was a scam.

May 2

Stolen property: A 29-year-old Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, man was picked up after police responded to a report of a wanted person at a Boardman-Canfield Road business. He was charged with receiving stolen property related to the theft of a computer from a Glenwood Avenue home.

Misuse of a credit card: A Hitchcock Road woman found out her credit card was used to make four fraudulent withdrawals totaling $166 from her bank account.

Theft: A boy, 15, and an 18-year-old woman, both of Youngstown, were charged after a $30 pendant was stolen from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall. The woman also was charged with disorderly conduct when, police said, she created a scene in the mall.

Vandalism: Someone used a hockey puck to damage a rear garage door and a metal vent grate at a Market Street business.

Bad check: A woman in her 30s wrote a check at Aaron’s Sales Leasing, 101 Boardman-Canfield Road, that was returned for nonsufficient funds.

Theft: A Highlands, Texas, man staying at a South Avenue motel reported someone broke into his rental car and removed a $250 global positioning system unit.

Stolen property: A Poland man, 45, faced charges of theft and receiving stolen property after a Youngstown man discovered at least $100 missing from his account, and that his debit card was used at a Doral Drive store.

Theft: A 20-year-old Poland man was charged, accused in the theft of five spruce trees from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: Officers, along with the U.S. Marshals Service, took into custody a 50-year-old Youngstown woman on a felony theft charge. She was accused of stealing two eyeglass frames valued at a total of $500 from LensCrafters, 205 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Burglary: Someone broke into an apartment in the 800 block of Cook Avenue and took five diamond rings and other jewelry.

Theft: Two Youngstown men, 20 and 21, were arrested on felony theft charges after a $5,000 dog was stolen from Petland, 7338 Market St. Also arrested was an 18-year-old Girard woman wanted on a felony theft count.

May 3

Arrests: Police made seven arrests while responding to a possible underage drinking party at a South Avenue motel. The teens, ages 16 to 18, were charged with underage consumption and possession of alcohol.

Drugs: Authorities responded to a loud-music complaint at a Wolosyn Circle apartment, where they arrested 14 teenagers, ages 16 to 19, on charges of underage possession and consumption of alcohol; a 19-year-old man was charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia when police said they also found suspected marijuana and four suspected marijuana pipes. Some of the teens also were charged with obstructing official business.

Theft: Several pieces of merchandise were stolen from Marc’s, 7121 Tiffany Blvd.

Domestic violence: A 32-year-old man was taken into custody at his Lockwood Boulevard home and charged after his stepsister alleged he punched her in the throat, knocking her to the ground.

Domestic violence: A Youngstown man, 23, was booked at the Mahoning County Jail after a Stratmore Avenue woman had reported being punched in the left eye during an argument over a child.

May 4

Assaults: Two Southern Boulevard men alleged each spit on the other as part of a neighbor dispute regarding grass clippings.

Burglary: Someone entered a Southwoods Drive apartment and took $200 and a $425 ring.

Arrests: A Youngstown man, 21, and a Struthers man, 22, were arrested after a glass cup was stolen from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive. One of the men was charged with theft; the other was pulled over a short time later and charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of crack cocaine and complicity to theft when, police said, a loaded firearm and a rock of suspected crack cocaine were found.

Arrests: A woman, 34, and a 39-year-old man, both of Youngstown, were charged with deception to obtain a dangerous drug, a felony, after a worker for Walgreen’s Pharmacy, 7295 Market St., reported getting a phony prescription for Vicodin.

Arrests: Eighteen youngsters between ages 16 and 19 were arrested on charges of underage consumption and possession of alcohol after police responded to a loud-noise complaint at a Flagler Lane residence and said several of the teens had beer.
