Woman killed in one-car mishap on Route 193

FOWLER — The Ohio State Highway Patrol said an Orwell woman was killed in a one-car accident on state Route 193 in Fowler Township.

Troopers said Christi R. Novicki, 21, was driving north on Route 193 around 6 p.m. Monday when her car ran off the right side of the roadway and into a ditch. It struck a drainage culvert and then a utility pole, troopers said.

Novicki was pronounced dead at the scene. She was wearing the automatic shoulder safety belt with which her car was equipped, but not the manual lap safety belt, troopers said.

A passenger, Heather R. Hileman, 21, also of Orwell, was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
