Variance hearing reset for Valley View Downs

HILLSVILLE, Pa. — A zoning variance hearing for the Valley View Downs racetrack, which had been set for Thursday, has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. May 22 at Mahoning Township Community Center 4512 W. State St.

The variance request is for height variance for a covered entryway; a height variance to permit future construction of up to three parking structures to a maximum 80-foot height; a variance to permit construction and use of a private 140,000-gallon, above-ground storage tank to collect sewage on site for hauling to an off-site wastewater treatment plant; a variance from the requirement that an outdoor facility be completely enclosed by a fence at least six feet high with a locking gate; and a variance to permit some parking areas to have a grass or gravel surface.

A complete copy of the application can be examined at the township municipal building, 4538 W. State St., during business hours.

The Zoning Hearing Board will elect officers at 6:30 p.m. before the variance hearing.
