No charges filed against teen who stole money

YOUNGSTOWN — Summit Academy, a junior high school on Oak Street, chose not to pursue a theft charge against a student who stole $130, but instead advise the boy’s probation officer at the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center about the matter, police said.

A secretary noticed the money missing from a cabinet near her desk on Monday and she had the suspect followed when he asked to go to a restroom.

The cash was found behind a toilet. The boy, no age given, confessed to taking the money.
