East Palestine board cuts one position

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR

EAST PALESTINE — While accepting the resignation of a veteran employee, the East Palestine Board of Education also moved to eliminate the position she had for several years.

The board, at its monthly meeting Monday , announced the resignation of Joan Kline, who worked as an in-school suspension aide at the middle school.

Superintendent Tom Inchak said Kline’s decision to resign for health reasons prompted the district to eliminate the position. He noted the position is no longer needed, and the money for it can be distributed elsewhere.

Kline has worked for the district since 1983.

The board also approved the 2008-09 high school student handbook and membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association. The board’s next scheduled meeting is 6 p.m. June 2 at the elementary school media center.
