YSU planetarium plans special event Saturday

YOUNGSTOWN — “Bringing Astronomy to the People” is the theme of Astronomy Day at the Ward Beecher Planetarium at Youngstown State University from 2 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The event is sponsored by the planetarium, the Mahoning Valley Astronomical Society and the Astronomical League. There will be hands-on activities and demonstrations, and the planetarium will show “Seeing in the Dark” throughout the day.

There also will be telescope observing throughout the day with solar filter during daylight hours and viewing of stars and planets after dark. “Black Holes: The Other Side of Infinity” will be shown at 8 p.m.
