Emergency training

Emergency training

NILES — A training session for those who want to volunteer during an emergency will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Niles Family YMCA, 995 Youngstown-Warren Road.

Cathy Genaro, a registered nurse with the Niles Health Department, said they will become members of the Volunteer Services Agency of the Mahoning Valley Trumbull County Medical Reserve Corps.

In case of a large-scale emergency, Ganaro said, the volunteers would report to one of two volunteer reception centers at the Niles YMCA or Mecca Moose. They could be used as greeters, registrars, interviewers, security or in transportation

After the initial four-hour training, there will be continuing training, Genaro said.

Those interested in attending should call (330) 675-7818.
