South Range scores early, often

NORTH LIMA — The South Range High baseball team took advantage of 12 walks to score 10 early runs Friday in cruising to a five-inning, 20-1 baseball victory over Leetonia.
The Raiders added eight more in the fourth inning.
In the first inning, the Raiders (7-12) sent 15 batters to the plate. Seven walked and six of those scored. Joel Melnick singled home two runs.
In the fourth inning, the Raiders sent 14 batters to the plate. Isaac Melnick led off the inning with a triple and scored. Three walks and two hit batters produced four of the eight runs.
Isaac Melnick scored three times during the game and had two stolen bases. South Range’s Gavin Snyder (1-2), Jack Dawson, Vince Miller combined to strike out six batters. Snyder hit two singles, scored three times and drove in a run.
Canfield 4, Niles 2
CANFIELD — The Cardinals (10-0 Metro Athletic Conference) can capture the league title if they win at Poland on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
With the score tied 1-1, the Cardinals scored a run in the third inning against the Red Dragons as Nate Wilson singled, stole second and raced home on a groundout.
Canfield got the deciding run in the fourth inning as Dave Brown scored on an error. Andrew Zunic worked six innings to pick up the win.
Evan Bollinger hit a double for Niles.
East Palestine 11, Southern 1
EAST PALESTINE — Bryan Soldo hit a double, two singles and drove in four runs for the Bulldogs (14-4, 9-3). Shane Eqresi hit a double and two singles and drove in a run.
Taylor Snyder hit a two-run triple. Nick DiCello worked four innings, allowed two hits and struck out 10 to pick up the win.
Softball Mooney 14, East Palestine 1
EAST PALESTINE — Christina Hrehor hit two homers and drove in five runs for Cardinal Mooney in a 14-1 win over East Palestine.
Winning pitcher Kelcie Herberger (5-2) tossed a one-hitter and had three hits for the Cardinals (15-4).
Meghan Williams homered and tripled while Cheryl Guyer and Chrissy Porter tripled. Kristen Stahl had two hits.
For the Bulldogs (5-11), Becky Bollinger hit a single in the second inning.
