Man brings a mortal shell to Springfield police station
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (AP) — The city’s police station was sealed off from the public for several hours Friday after a man dropped off a mortar shell at the building.
Springfield police Sgt. Kim Standley says the man found the shell in a trash bin.
The Dayton Bomb Squad removed the shell from the lobby of the station.
Dayton police Sgt. Dennis Chaney says the shell appeared to be inert, but would be destroyed as a precaution.
