YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County grand jury has indicted a 20-year-old Broadway man on murder and felonious assault charges with gun specifications in an April 23 shooting at Westlake Terrace apartments on the city’s North Side.

Lamar McKinney was indicted Thursday on a murder charge in the death of Marcus Easterly, 30, of Lanterman Road, and on a felonious assault charge in the nonfatal shooting of Derrell Easterly, 21, of Hammaker Street.

The relationship between the Easterlys was not immediately known.

Conviction of the murder charge carries a penalty range of 15 years to life in prison. Conviction of the felonious assault charge carries a range of two to eight years in prison.

Conviction of either gun specification would add three mandatory consecutive years in prison to the sentence.

The shots were fired after a fight between teenagers in the 500 block of Griffith Street escalated and drew in adults, police said.
