national merit scholarships Area winners
Four Mahoning County students are among the 2,500 distinguished high school seniors who have won National Merit Scholarships of $2,500 from the National Merit Scholarship Corp. The Merit Scholars were chosen from about 15,000 finalists in the 2008 program. They are:
Laura S. Dankovich, Canfield High School. She is a daughter of Alex and Diane Dankovich of Canfield. Her probable career field is medicine.
Tyler J. Reed, Canfield High School. He is a son of Joseph and Cynthia Reed of Canfield. His probable career field is mathematics/economics.
Heather A. Stefek, Poland Seminary High School. Her parents are Patricia and Paul Stefek of Poland. Her probable career field is environmental science.
Joseph Vukovich, Poland Seminary High School. He is a son of Patricia Mathews of Poland. His probable career field is physics.
