Antique plate exhibit at Sutliff Museum
WARREN — Antique bread plates are being featured at the Sutliff Museum during May and June. Taken from a collection of more than 175 pressed glass bread plates from America and England, this grouping features commemorative designs of political figures and historic places.
Affter the Civil War, advances in glass molding made dishes with specific purposes, such as plates for serving bread, popular and affordable.
Glass factories in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio made hundreds of patterns of pressed glass.
The museum is located on the second floor of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave.
It is open Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 22 to 4 p.m. The exhibit is free. For more information, go to sutliffmuseum.lorg.
