INFORMATION YPAL baseball/softball

The Youngstown Police Athletic League, in cooperation with MYCAP and the Parks and Recreation Dept., is introducing a free baseball/softball league. Registration will continue each Saturday in April. Here’s some important information:

T-Ball: ages 5-8 (girls and boys)

Baseball: boys ages 9-10, 11-12, 13-17

Softball: girls ages 9-12 and 13-17

Birth certificates: Required at sign-up.

Registration: Saturdays throughout April from 1-4 p.m. at Salvation Army on Glenwood Ave., or by calling Victor Morales at (330) 398-5772.

Equipment: The Youngstown State softball team has organized a drive to collect used softball and baseball equipment. Equipment can be dropped off at the Downtown and Boardman YMCAs, the Youngstown Police Department, the Lake Milton State Park Office and YSU’s Andrews Student Recreation and Wellness Center. The YSU softball team will also collect equipment at its April 12 doubleheader against Wright State at McCune Park. Corporate sponsors of the equipment drive are the Green Team, Youngstown Litter Control, the Youngstown Police Athletic League, re:Create, Youngstown State University, the YMCA, Boys and Girls Clubs of Youngstown, WYTV, The Vindicator and Vindy.com.
