3 companies join Builders

YOUNGSTOWN — Three veteran members of the local construction industry are the newest members of The Builders Association of Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania (The Builders). The new members, all from Ohio, are Barron Tile Co. of Youngstown, DSV Builders of Niles, and Cherokee Glass Inc. of Ravenna.

The Builders represents some 200 employer members in Trumbull, Columbiana and Mahoning counties in eastern Ohio and Mercer and Lawrence counties in western Pennsylvania; services 15 skilled trades in the region, and is a resource for union construction contractors.

Schwab received $8.2M

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Charles Schwab received compensation valued at $8.2 million for 2007 as head of his namesake stock brokerage firm Charles Schwab Corp., a securities filing Friday showed. Schwab was awarded a salary of $900,000, $3.7 million in nonequity incentive pay, and received stock and options valued at $3.5 million at the time they were granted.

The 70-year-old founder of the company also received $77,365 in other compensation such as $48,724 for security costs, $11,500 in matching contributions to a retirement plan, and around $17,000 for unspecified items that included driver and vehicle costs. His pay package amounted to slightly less than the 2006 total of $8.35 million.

Boys sweat shirts recalled

The following recall has been announced:

• About 5,000 boys hooded sweat shirts, distributed by Kidz World Inc. doing business as High Energy USA, because the sweatshirt has a drawstring through the hood which poses a strangulation hazard to children. No incidents or injuries have been reported. The sweatshirts were made in Pakistan, Egypt and Korea and were sold at A.J.
