Racing with… Dave Blaney

Last race: The Hartford native had a disappointing weekend. The driver of the Caterpillar Toyota qualified 34th for the Food City 500 atBristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway, but an ill-handling car sent him to the garage 51 laps into the race. The changes seemed to work, but Blaney could finish only in 34th place, right where he started.

Season: Blaney sits in 37th place in the Sprint Cup standings with 334 points. He’s 261 points behind Martin Truex Jr., who is in the 12th and final qualifying position in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

Next: The Bill Davis Racing driver will attempt to tame the wild short track at Martinsville (Va.) Sunday in the Goody’s Cool Orange 500. He’ll have a new chassis for this race, according to a report on daveblaney.com.
