Niles city group schedules invitation-only party

NILES — The city’s Wellness Center Advisory Council has scheduled a fund raising mixer April 24 at Vernon’s Caf on Youngstown Warren Road from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Restaurant owner Vernon Cesta is a member of the council. Director Scott MacMillan said attendance is by invitation only and that 400 invitations have been mailed. The council is seeking sponsorships and donations from community businesses and organizations. In the council’s first meeting earlier this month, MacMillan said he hoped to raise $250,000 to help pay for equipment. Construction of the $4 million, 70,000-square-foot facility located near Waddell Park began this month. Completion is expected by November.
