Epilepsy support group meets Sunday

AUSTINTOWN — A. E. Vea, president and founder of the American International Karate Association, will speak about karate as a confidence and self-esteem builder for people with epilepsy at a meeting of the Mahoning Valley Epilepsy Support Group on Sunday.

The free program is at 6:30 p.m. at the Mahoning Valley Epilepsy Fund building, 25 N Canfield-Niles Road (state Route 46). Neurologists recently have said that people with epilepsy, especially children, can benefit from martial arts in the areas of self-confidence, focus and concentration, said Janet Mau, executive director of the epilepsy fund.

Vea, who has trained national and international champions, operates A.E. Karate Studios, 3900 Belmont Ave., Liberty.
