Police in Howland Township investigate shooting, stabbing

HOWLAND — Township police are investigating the shooting of one man and stabbing of another.

Little information is being released by township police, however.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol at Southington post reported troopers were called shortly after 4 a.m. Wednesday to a report of a shooting that took place along state Route 11, between state Route 82 and Tibbetts-Wick Road in Liberty Township.

Lt. Joseph Dragovich, post commander, said one man was stabbed and had been taken to St. Joseph Health Center and another man taken to Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

It appeared, Dragovich said, that the injuries were not sustained on Route 11 in Liberty. He did not elaborate.

Late in the morning, Capt. Frank Dillon, assistant Howland Township police chief, was conferring with Trumbull County prosecutors.

Information about the identities of the men, the extent of their injuries and where they were suffered isn’t being released.

Both Dillon and county Prosecutor Dennis Watkins said information would be available later Wednesday, but Dillon couldn’t be reached to comment later in the day.
