Maple syrup festival to open Sat.
BOARDMAN — Boardman Township Park in conjunction with Boardman Rotary is sponsoring the 31st annual Maple Syrup and Pancake Breakfast Festival from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and April 5-6.
Activities at this event include a pancake breakfast with maple syrup, old fashioned maple syrup-making demonstrations, hayrides, Civil War re-enactors and woodcarvers.
The cost for the pancake breakfast is $6 for adults and $4 for children 12 and younger.
All other activities are free. The Boardman Rotary will conduct its first pancake-eating contest at 3 p.m. Saturday. Entry forms are available at the park office. Cost to enter is $5 for individuals and $10 for a team of two or three. Prizes will be awarded for the best individual and the best team. Teams also can participate in raising funds for their organization by selling tickets to the pancake festival; $1 of each adult ticket sold will be donated to the school or organization selling tickets.
