Louie Today: Op Ceasefire, George Bush, detox, film noir
Youngstown Prosecutor Jay Macejko will open Wednesday's show as he talks with Louie Free, Vindy.com's news radio partner, about everything from Operation Ceasefire to the municipal judges' demand for a new courthouse to comments made on the show last week by Atty Marty Yavorsik regarding the havoc in the muni court.
"Brainfood From the Heartland" will continue with “Dead Certain” author Robert Draper — a national correspondent for GQ magazine and a former Texas Monthly editor who wrote a lengthy profile of President Bush, then governor of Texas, in 1998 . Draper draws a detailed portrait based on six hour-long interviews with the notoriously press-wary president and interviews with some 200 other sources, including First Lady Laura Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney , Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, former Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld and senior adviser Karl Rove.
Draper paints the commander-in-chief as a willful optimist, proud of his self-confidence and convinced that any expressions of doubt would make him less of a leader: a man addicted to “Big Ideas and small comforts” (like riding his bike), an obstinate politician unwilling to change course or second-guess himself, and who values loyalty above all else.
Also , Brenda Watson will share her Detox Strategy :Vibrant Health in 5 Easy Steps, explaining where toxins come from, how they affect our bodies, how exposure to harmful toxins can lead to poor health and chronic disease , how to determine your individual level of toxic exposure and the steps you can take to reduce it, why efforts to cleanse and detoxify the body are an essential part of enhancing one’s energy and vitality and preserving overall health, how maintaining a cleaner, more vibrant body is the secret to longevity. Brenda is the author of the NYTimes bestseller, The Fiber 35 Diet.
Rounding out the program will be Thomas Hibbs, distinguished professor of ethics & culture and dean of the honors college at Baylor University,. Louie will talk with him about film noir. Often denounced as nihilistic and even degenerate, Hibbs argues that these powerful tales of sin and redemption embody religious themes that are essential for cultural renewal.
