March 20

Weapons: A traffic stop near Southern Boulevard led to the arrest of a 29-year-old Youngstown man on two counts of carrying a concealed weapon and one count of drug abuse (marijuana). A loaded handgun, a set of brass knuckles and suspected marijuana were found, police said.

Counterfeit: Someone bought merchandise at Smoker Friendly, 4927 Market St., with a phony $20 bill.

Fraud: A Rockdale Avenue man discovered a fraudulent $76 charge to his bank account.

Drug paraphernalia: Officers cited a Boardman man, 19, during a traffic stop after saying he had a suspected marijuana pipe in his jacket. Also cited was a 16-year-old Boardman girl when police said she had tobacco.

Arrest: While investigating a family dispute at a Market Street insurance business, authorities took a Canfield man, 56, into custody on a criminal-trespassing charge. By entering the business, the man violated conditions of his bond, the report said.

Assault: A Salem man, 44, was charged after a Simon Road man alleged the suspect came to his residence and twice shoved the accuser during a fight, knocking him to the ground. The resident complained of pain in his right leg.

Domestic violence: A 31-year-old man was arrested at his Forest Park Drive home and charged after a woman alleged he threatened to kill several people in the home during an argument.

March 21

Theft: Merchandise was stolen from Party Place, 150 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Citation: Police cited an 18-year-old Boardman man during a traffic stop after saying they found a bag of suspected marijuana.

Theft: A $15 package of tobacco was taken from Opinions Ltd. in the Southern Park Mall.

Drugs: A 54-year-old East Liverpool man was arrested when police responded to a report of someone who couldn’t pay for gasoline at a Market Street station, and upon learning he was wanted on a felony warrant from Portage County charging him with cocaine possession.

Theft: Police arrested a 16-year-old Boardman girl on a theft charge after three earrings valued at $105 were stolen from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: A Youngstown woman learned someone tried to use her stolen credit card at three Boardman businesses.

Theft: A 36-year-old Hubbard woman was charged, accused in the theft of a $25 shaving device from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Misuse of a credit card: A Youngstown woman found that someone used her debit card without permission at a Western Reserve Road gas station.

Possible theft: A worker for a Market Street car dealership reported two dealer plates lost or stolen.

Theft: A Boardman woman, 34, faced a theft charge after nine MP3 players were stolen on several occasions from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road. The theft came to about $1,080.

Theft: Authorities apprehended a 15-year-old Youngstown boy in the 700 block of Boardman-Poland Road and charged him with theft, obstructing official business and resisting arrest. He was accused of stealing from Wal-Mart a $48 BB/pellet rifle and, when confronted, leading police on a foot chase.

Misuse of a credit card: An Austintown man, 31, surrendered to police and faced a felony count. Last December, a Boardman man discovered two unauthorized purchases totaling $1,258, including one for a laptop computer, to his debit card.

Arrest: Police, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Task Force, picked up a 28-year-old woman at her Youngstown residence who was wanted on a charge of child endangering. Last November, an employee with a Doral Drive store alleged seeing the woman grab her 4-year-old son, throw him into the side of a shopping cart and punch him.

Theft: A man’s $250 cell phone was taken while he was at a California Avenue business.

Recovered property: While on patrol, police found a stolen 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass in the 100 block of Shields Road.

March 22

Theft: Three people left Outback Steakhouse, 7000 Tiffany Blvd., without paying food bills totaling $58.83.

Arrest: While responding to the theft of five necklaces at Hair Depot, 4026 Market St., officers picked up a Youngstown boy, 15, upon finding out he was wanted on a pickup order issued by the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center, Youngstown, to face a criminal-mischief charge.

Criminal damaging: A man left a Boardman-Poland Road business and discovered someone had used a key to scratch his truck on both sides.

Theft/misuse of a credit card: A Warren woman left her bank card at a Market Street automated teller machine and discovered numerous unauthorized purchases were made with the card.

Criminal damaging: Four tires on a vehicle were slashed at a business in the 7400 block of California Avenue.

March 23

Theft: A Euclid Boulevard woman reported her purse, driver’s license and a digital camera stolen from her car.

Criminal damaging: The rear windshield of a Maple Drive man’s vehicle was shattered, resulting in $300 damage.

Menacing: An Afton Avenue man told police he received threatening text messages.

Theft: A Poland man reported the theft of a trailer from the 8400 block of Southern Boulevard.

Criminal damaging: Two of a car’s tires were slashed at a home in the 500 block of Afton Avenue.

Auto theft: A man reported his 2002 Ford Focus stolen from in front of his Marinthana Avenue home.

Theft/criminal damaging: A Youngstown man at a U.S. Route 224 business reported damage to his vehicle’s dashboard after someone removed a $200 car stereo.
