More arrests in shooting death

YOUNGSTOWN — Two more arrests have been made in the St. Patrick’s Day shooting death of Demar L. Flores. On Monday, Charles E. Smith Jr., 29, of East Florida Avenue turned himself in to an attorney and Reginald Gilchrist Jr., 25, of Mistletoe Avenue was arrested at his home, said Capt. Kenneth Centorame, chief of detectives. Both are charged with murder and aggravated robbery. They were expected to be arraigned today in municipal court. Already charged in the crime are Sarah L. Beck, 37, and Hassan Merriweather, 22. Beck is charged with murder and aggravated robbery; Merriweather is charged with complicity to aggravated robbery. Flores, 18, of Eliot Lane was shot multiple times in the driveway of 54 Rutledge Drive around 9:50 p.m. March 17 and later died at a hospital from his injuries. Centorame said the motive was robbery.
