Eagle award

Eric Filicky, son of Rich and Sherry Filicky of Poland, recently received his Eagle Scout Award. He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 101 of Struthers. His scoutmaster is Jeff Wormley.

Eric earned 22 merit badges and has been the troop’s assistant senior patrol leader, patrol leader, assistant patrol leader, librarian and quartermaster. He also received the Pope Pius XII award and is a member of the Order of the Arrow.

His Eagle Scout service project was to supervise and construct a new walkway to the Hopewell Memorial, the Peace Keepers Memorial and the Struthers Peace Officers Memorial on Poland Avenue, all in Struthers.

Eric is a senior at Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, where he is in the engineering tech prep program. He is a member of National Technical Honor Society and plans to attend Youngstown State University. He is a member of St. Nicholas Church in Struthers.
