YOUNGSTOWN STATE UNIVERSITY
Sara E. Weigel of Poland has been named a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda, a national leadership and honors organization dedicated to promoting and rewarding academic achievement.
MOUNT UNION COLLEGE, Alliance, Ohio
Edward MacKiewicz a sophomore from Cortland, has been inducted into Kappa Delta Pi, an international honor society for education students. Kappa Delta promotes excellence and recognizes outstanding contributions to education.
JOHN CARROLL UNIVERSITY, CLEVELAND
Lisa M. Ugran,daughter of Joseph and Claudine Ugran of Canfield, has been inducted into Eta Eta Eta Chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, a national honorary society for communication students. She is a communications major and a graduate of Canfield High School.
OTTERBEIN COLLEGE, WESTERVILLE, OHIO
Michael Johnson, son of Robert and Mary Johnson of Poland, and Jessika Barvitski, daughter of John and Theresa Barvitski of Canfield, will tour with the college Wind Ensemble during its Spring Break Tour. The Ensemble is made up of 40 musicians who must compete for the honor. Johnson is a graduate of Poland Seminary High School and a freshman music major, playing percussion in the Wind Ensemble. He is a member of Sigma Delta Phi Fraternity. Barvitski is a graduate of Boardman High School and a freshman early childhood education major. She plays the flute in the Wind Ensemble.
THE COLLEGE OF WOOSTER, Wooster, Ohio
Thomas Toney, a graduate of Chaney High School and a junior Africana Studies major, received the Douglas F. Weiler Scholarship at Wooster’s 38th annual Recognition Banquet. The scholarship is awarded annually to a junior active in a theme-dorm or house who demonstrates an exceptional attitude of concern toward others.
