Multicultural church event

YOUNGSTOWN — Gibson Heights Second Presbyterian Church, 755 E. Dewey Ave., will host a service at 10:30 a.m. March 30 in observance of Multicultural Church Emphasis. Several area congregations will unite to recognize, celebrate and incorporate the gifts of a diverse, ethnic culture, and heritage in worship, ministry and leadership.

Among pastors and congregations working together to organize the service are Pastor Deborah Austin of St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church, Pastor Rafael Cruz of Unity Baptist Church and the Rev. Steve Fortenberry of Common Ground Church Community.

These attending the service are asked to take a casserole, a salad or dessert to share at a luncheon to be held after worship. Beverages and table service will be provided by the host congregation for the gathering in fellowship hall.

Spring revival scheduled planned at Rising Star

YOUNGSTOWN — The youth department of Rising Star Baptist Church, 2943 Wardle Ave., will host a spring revival next week. The theme for the event will be “Ignite the Fire; Fan the Flame-Spiritual Warfare.”

The agenda for the three-day event will feature ministers and guest singers and artists: Wednesday, Minister Mark Jackson and the Eagle Heights Academy Gospel Choir; Thursday, Minister DeMaine Kitchen and Complete from the Christian Revival Discipleship Center; and Friday, Minister Judah Early and hip-hop gospel rap and the Word of God. YOUNGSTOWN — “All Power In His Hands” is the title of a new play to be presented at 11:15 a.m. Easter Sunday at Beulah Baptist Church, 570 Sherwood Ave. The play was written by D. Hill, a church member.

Sunrise service planned

YOUNGSTOWN — A sunrise worship service will be at 7 a.m. Easter Sunday at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 328 S. Forest St. A speaker will be from We Walk by Faith Bible Church. There will be a free breakfast at 8 a.m.

Pastor to be installed

YOUNGSTOWN — World Fellowship Interdenominational Church will install its newly elected pastor, the Rev. Larry B. McCulloh, during a ceremony at 4:30 p.m. March 30 at the church, 494 W. Dewey Ave. A lifelong member of the church, the Rev. Mr. McCulloh, his wife, Edna, and their daughter live in Akron.

The guest speaker will be the Rev. Harry Proctor of Columbus, a grandson of the late Rev. Elizabeth Powell, former pastor of the host church.

Divine Mercy Sunday set at St. Joseph the Provider

CAMPBELL — St. Joseph the Provider Parish, 633 Porter Ave., will celebrate Divine Mercy March 30. Eucharistic adoration will take place from noon to 3 p.m. in the church. YOUNGSTOWN — Domingo de Resurreci ≥n/Resurrection Sunday will be observed at 10 a.m. Sunday at Metro Assembly, 2530 South Ave., with Spanish Evangelical Church.

CANFIELD — Testimony night is planned at 7 p.m. Monday at Lifecare Ministry Center, Lucille Orr Ministries, 5357 S. Raccoon Road Guest speaker will be Darlene Sanitize.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

GIRARD — “Exploration of the Prayer Shawl Ministry” is the theme of a seminar planned from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 5 at Unity Church Centre, 1226 Naylor-Lloyd Road.

The program will explore how to organize such a ministry, teach knitting techniques and enhance participants’ spiritual journey. The cost is $15 and includes breakfast, lunch and materials.
