Schools are beginning to register children for kindergarten for the 2008-09 school year. In most cases, children must be age 5 by Sept. 30 and have proof of proper immunizations, their birth certificate, a Social Security number and proof of residency at the time of registration. Proof of legal custody may also be required. Any additional requirements are listed with each school.

West Branch: Registration is scheduled for April 29 and 30 at West Branch High School, 14277 S. Main St., Beloit. For an appointment, call the Special Services Office at (330) 983-4490.

Brookfield: April 3 has been selected as the make-up date for parents who missed an earlier kindergarten registration period. Brookfield requires two proofs of residency in addition to the above requirements. Registration will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. at Brookfield Elementary School, 115 Anson Way, Sharon, Pa. Austintown: Registration will be held at all elementary schools from 9 to 11 am. and 1 to 3 p.m. April 17 and 18. There will also be a 5 to 7 p.m. session on April 17 only. For information, call (330) 797-3900, ext. 1621.

Liberty: Liberty will now have full-day kindergarten classes beginning this fall. Parents are advised to pick up registration packets in the E.J. Blott Elementary School main office, 4003 Shady Road, between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Appointments will need to be scheduled at that time to meet with the guidance counselor. Registration will begin April 1 and end on May 9. For more information, call (330) 759-1053.
