For $22,995, you can get a turbocharged Chevy Cobalt SS

LORDSTOWN — The new, turbocharged Chevrolet Cobalt SS will carry a starting price of $22,995.

Chevrolet said the price includes a $660 destination charge and features such as air conditioning, premium sound system, remote keyless entry, StabiliTrak electronic stability control system, OnStar and XM Satellite Radio.

Options include an upgraded audio system ($295), sunroof ($750), high-wing rear spoiler ($195) and a limited-slip differential ($495).

The Cobalt SS coupe is to arrive in dealerships in late April.

The car is produced at General Motors’ Lordstown complex along with the base models of the Cobalt and the Pontiac G5.

The SS engine features a turbocharger and other enhancements that allow the car to go from zero to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds. The car has 260 horsepower, compared with 148 for the standard Cobalt.

The turbocharged model replaces an SS model with a supercharger. That model delivered 205 horsepower.

The turbocharger provides a more efficient and economical method of pumping compressed air in the engine, allowing the cylinders to provide more power, Chevrolet officials said.
