Niles hires Yeager as football coach
NILES — Bradly Yeager has been a part of the Niles High football program since he’s been eligible to start playing football and he hopes it continues for a long time to come.
Yeager, a 2001 graduate of Niles McKinley, was Thursday night officially named the school’s head football coach at the school’s monthly Board of Education meeting held at Bonham Elementary School.
The 25-year-old takes over for Tim Johnson, who resigned after one season as head coach.
Yeager, who was a standout quarterback for the Red Dragons, joined the Niles coaching staff upon graduation and has been there ever since, the last five seasons as a varsity assistant. He’s coached under Bill Bohren, Phil Annarella and Johnson.
“Now that the smoke has cleared, I think everything has gone as I expected it to go,” Yeager said. “We’ve been working right along ever since Coach Johnson left. It was just a matter of the superintendent getting things cleared up and finishing up the process.”
“The entire board and the school system has shown me so much support and I’m grateful for that,” Yeager said.
