Mayor pleads innocent to making threats
RIVERSIDE, Ohio (AP) — The mayor of this Dayton suburb pleaded innocent Tuesday to charges accusing him of threatening to shoot a city council member.
Dayton Municipal Court Judge James Cannon told Mayor Johnie Doan not to have contact with his accuser unless the two are conducting business at city hall.
Doan’s attorney, R. Jason Howard, said he will seek to have the charges dismissed.
Doan was arrested after Councilman Edward Schock filed a complaint with police, accusing Doan of threatening him over the telephone.
Schock says Doan made the threats because he was upset over the handling of a business matter in the town. Schock says he and his wife felt they were in danger.
