YOUNGSTOWN — Beatitude House is moving, and the Mahoning Valley is invited to celebrate. For close to 20 years, Beatitude House, with offices at 287 Lora Ave., has been helping disadvantaged women and children by providing educational opportunities, creating homes and building healthy families. To better serve the community, Beatitude House, in partnership with St. Edward Parish, renovated a building on the grounds of the church, located at 238 Tod Lane. From 2 to 4 p.m. April 4, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will officially open the organization’s new administrative offices. Monsignor Robert Siffrin, pastor at St. Edward’s, will bless the building.

Meningitis vaccination

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown City Health Department is offering meningitis vaccine for children ages 11-18 on Friday from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at 345 Oak Hill Ave. The cost is $10. Medicaid recipients must bring their medical cards. For more information, call (330) 743-3333, Ext. 261.

$20K grant to food bank

YOUNGSTOWN — Second Harvest Food Bank has been awarded a grant from Home Savings for $20,000 to upgrade technology and buy a van. “We are pleased to support Second Harvest in their efforts to feed hungry people throughout our community,” said Darlene Pavlock, executive director of Home Savings Charitable Foundation. Second Harvest Food Bank provides food to 165 hunger relief organizations in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties. With current assets of $2.8 billion, Home Savings operates 39 banking offices and six loan production offices throughout Ohio and western Pennsylvania, employing nearly 700 people.

J-M board meeting

NORTH JACKSON — The Jackson-Milton Board of Education’s special meeting will be at 5 p.m. today in the elementary building. The meeting originally was set for Thursday. The board will discuss personnel and review bids for the district’s school building project.

Greek Culture Day

NILES — The Maids of Athena, Diana Chapter No. 116 of Warren, will have a Greek Culture Day on Saturday at the Eastwood Mall Performing Arts Center. The event will feature Greek music and folk dance, crafts for children and Greek merchandise for sale. The Athenian Dancers will perform twice, once at 1:30 p.m., and again at 3:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center. Joining the Warren Athenian Dancers are groups from Steubenville and Boardman, who will dance at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. All performances are free to the public. The Performing Art Center is located in the Eastwood Mall across from Spencer Gifts, along the concourse between Macy’s and Dillard’s.

FIRST teams to compete

WARREN ¬≠¬≠— Four Mahoning Valley For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) robotic teams will be in Cleveland during the weekend to compete in regional competition. Warren G. Harding High School’s team 48, Girard High School’s team 379, Champion High School’s team 2010 and Youngstown Chaney High School’s team 276 will be competing at Cleveland State University’s Wolstein Center in the FIRST Buckeye Regional competition. Thursday is slated for practice rounds, and qualification and elimination rounds will be Friday and Saturday. The events run from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday with the awards ceremonies each day starting at 4:30 p.m. Delphi E.L.I.T.E. Team 48 from Harding has competed in two regional competitions this season. At the Midwest regionals in Chicago, Team 48 won the Johnson Johnson Gracious Professionalism Award and Underwriters Laboratory Industrial Safety Award. In Pittsburgh, Delphi E.L.I.T.E. received the Imagery Award.
