Petition seeks to remove Coitsville from Youngstown schools

YOUNGSTOWN — Edmond Raines of Johnson Road in Coitsville Township presented the Youngstown Board of Education with petitions Tuesday asking that the township be removed from the city school district, and split between the Hubbard and Lowellville school districts. Raines declined to answer any questions about the petitions but asked that the city school board present the request and petitions to the Ohio Department of Education by the end of March as required by law. City school officials said Coitsville residents have made similar requests to be removed from the Youngstown district in the past. The board accepted the petitions.
