Man charged in motel, eatery robberies

YOUNGSTOWN — A man charged by Liberty police with complicity to robbery of a motel also has been charged with complicity to robbery of the Burger King on West Midlothian Boulevard, said Capt. Kenneth Centorame, chief of detectives.

Dwayne Pixley, 40, who has addresses in Youngstown and Warren, was in Trumbull County Jail, Centorame said Monday. Police are still seeking the robber. Cash was taken from the register at Burger King early Sunday morning by a man who implied he had a gun, police said. He ran to a waiting Chevrolet S-10 pickup that had a driver behind the wheel.

According to Liberty police reports, Pixley went to the Days Inn on East Liberty Street at midnight Monday with another man and inquired about room rates. The men, reports said, left but Pixley’s companion returned a short time later, pulled a gun and demanded money from the register.

The man with the gun ran off on foot. Pixley was still in the hotel parking lot when police arrived. Liberty police later found out about the Youngstown incident.
