Police seek information on shooting at Elks Club

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — No arrests had been made as of Sunday night in a shooting late Friday at the Elks Club on West Home Street, where three people were injured by gunfire.

Jory Malone, 26, of New Castle, was listed in critical condition at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

He was struck several times in the head and chest. Michael Harris, 40, of California, who was wounded in the left back and buttocks, was listed in stable condition at St. Elizabeth’s.

A third person, Sherry Huddleston, 44, of New Castle, who was wounded in the left knee area, was treated at Jameson Memorial Hospital.

Witnesses said the fight started inside the club and shots were fired at about 11:50 p.m. from a semiautomatic handgun. Suspects are being sought by police. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (724) 656-3585 or (724) 656-9300.

Burger King robbed

YOUNGSTOWN — An aggravated robbery took place at 6:40 a.m. Sunday at Burger King restaurant, 15 W. Midlothian Blvd., when a man entered the building and went behind the counter. The police report noted the man, when confronted by the associate manager, told the restaurant employee that he had a gun and this was a robbery. The gunman took an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register and escaped.

Resident hurt in fire

CAMPBELL — The fire department responded at 1:35 p.m. Sunday to a kitchen fire at 188 Reed Ave., which caused about $5,000 in damage and injured resident Robert Zura. He was burned on his hands, face and arms; no information on where he was treated was available.

Temporary road closing

BELOIT —U.S. Route 62 between 12th Street and Beloit-Snodes Road in Smith Township will be closed 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 29 for a mock disaster drill, the Ohio Department of Transportation announced. The local emergency planning committees of Columbiana and Mahoning counties will conduct the drill. Electronic message boards will designate detour routes.
