Man fatally shot on city’s East Side

YOUNGSTOWN — Police are investigating a fatal shooting on Rutledge Drive on the city’s East Side late tonight.

Details were sketchy, but it was reported to police that two men wearing dark clothing were seen running through the yards behind a Rutledge Drive home after shots were fired.

The man, whose identity was not released, was shot several times in the driveway of the home. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center by ambulance.

If ruled a homicide by the Mahoning County coroner, it would be the city’s eighth this year, but the first since Feb. 6. The city also had recorded eight homicides at this time last year.
