SteelHounds lose, 3-1


YOUNGSTOWN — The Laredo Bucks defeated the Youngstown SteelHounds 3-1, snapping the ’Hounds’ five-game home winning streak and eight-game point streak.  Youngstown is 36-20-5 (77 points) and remains in fourth place in the Northern Conference playoff picture. Five teams will qualify for nest week’s playoffs.

At 10:11 of the second period a line brawl ensued having three players from each team receive game misconducts. Youngstown goaltender Kevin Beech and Buck netminder Dustin Traylen joined the fray receiving five minute majors as well as minors for leaving the crease. Neither goalie was ejected but both were pulled by their coaches and did not see action the rest of the game. 

The two teams combined for 40 penalties and 180 penalty minutes Youngstown recording 98 of them. Beech had 10 saves on 13 shots while Traylen made 12 saves on 12 shots in the 30:11 of work.

Andy Franck made 16 saves on 16 shots in relief of Beech.
