Bee first round

It took 45 minutes to get through the first round of the Vindicator Regional Spelling Bee -- 33 participants were eliminated and 37 advanced to round two.
The audience is extremely polite, listening quietly as each word is pronounced and then applauding each speller's performance -- whether they got the word correct or not.
The list of words used in the Bee is provided by Scripps National Spelling Bee. The Vindicator Bee is a regional event with the winner advancing to the Scripps National Bee in Washington, D.C., in April.
