A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the man’s arrest and conviction.
NEW CASTLE, Pa. — A white man suspected of being a serial bank robber in western Pennsylvania stole an undetermined amount of money Wednesday from the Huntington Savings Bank branch at 1144 Butler Ave.
According to the FBI, the man, described as being in his late 30s to early 40s, and wearing a Pittsburgh Steelers cap and dark sunglasses, entered the bank about 10:30 a.m. and gave a note to a teller demanding money and saying he had a gun.
No weapon was observed or displayed, however, and he fled the bank in an unknown direction with an undetermined amount of money, according to Special Agent Robert Smith of the FBI’s North Pittsburgh Resident Agency.
The description of the robber, who also had a mustache and was wearing light-colored trousers, black shoes and dark gloves, is consistent with the description of a man who has committed 10 previous robberies, according to authorities.
The Pittsburgh Office of the FBI and New Castle Police Department are working jointly on the case. Anyone with information is requested to contact FBI/North Pittsburgh Resident Agency at (724) 778-8866 or the FBI-Pittsburgh Office at (412) 432-4000.
The Huntington Bank robbery is linked with others committed by a serial bank robber who has conducted 11 known bank robberies in western Pennsylvania, including Wednesday’s robbery. There is a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the bank robber.
