NBA ROUNDUP \ Wednesday’s other games

Jazz 114, Bucks 110

MILWAUKEE — Carlos Boozer had a go-ahead layup with 46.7 seconds as Utah narrowly avoided another surprising road loss. Deron Williams led Utah with 26 points and 13 assists, his ninth straight double-double and 41st overall. Ronnie Brewer scored 21 and Boozer added 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Jazz, who bounced back from their 12-point loss at Chicago the previous night. Charlie Villanueva and Michael Redd scored 26 points each to lead the Bucks, who nearly pulled out a victory thanks to Charlie Bell’s strong outside shooting in the fourth quarter. Bell scored 24 and tied a season high with five 3-pointers.

Hornets 100, Spurs 75

NEW ORLEANS — Chris Paul had 26 points and 17 assists to help New Orleans take a convincing victory over Southwest Division-leading San Antonio. David West, returning from an ankle injury that sidelined him for three games, had 29 points and 10 rebounds as New Orleans pulled within a half-game of the division lead behind the Spurs and Houston Rockets. The Hornets shot 59 percent against the normally defensive-minded Spurs, who had held 26 of their previous 30 opponents under 100 points. When West hit a 3-pointer with 5 minutes remaining, the Hornets led 91-71, and both teams subbed all of their starters out soon after. San Antonio shot 43 percent, going only 2-of-18 from 3-point range and a dreadful 7-of-17 on free throws. Tony Parker had a particularly rough night at the foul line, going 2-for-8. Tim Duncan led the Spurs with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Parker finished with 26 points, hitting the Spurs’ only two 3-pointers. Manu Ginobili added 11 points for San Antonio.

76ers 83, Pistons 82

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Andre Iguodala scored 22 points and Philadelphia hung on for a victory over Detroit. The Sixers didn’t score in the final 2:27, but won when Chauncey Billups’ jumper over Rodney Carney bounced off the rim as time expired. Carney scored 16 points for Philadelphia, and Samuel Dalembert grabbed 15 rebounds. Rasheed Wallace had 17 points for Detroit, while Antonio McDyess added 14 points and 11 rebounds. McDyess also missed six of 12 free throws.

Magic 110, Clippers 88

ORLANDO, Fla. — Dwight Howard had his league-leading 57th double-double of the season with 22 points and 13 rebounds in Orlando’s victory over Los Angeles. Rashard Lewis had 19 points and Hedo Turkoglu 17 for the Magic, who had all five starters in double figures by the end of the third quarter. The Magic improved to 24-0 this season when holding teams under 95 points. Corey Maggette led Los Angeles with 22 points, but scored only two in the second half. Cuttino Mobley and Al Thornton had 17 each for the Clippers, who have lost nine of their last 11 games.

Knicks 91, Heat 88

MIAMI — Jamal Crawford scored 23 points, and New York wasted most of a 14-point fourth-quarter lead before beating Miami and snapping a seven-game losing streak. Zach Randolph had 19 points and 12 rebounds, and Nate Robinson scored 17 points for New York, which won on the one-year anniversary of the Knicks announcing that coach Isiah Thomas earned a contract extension because the team had shown “evident progress.” The Knicks are 23-61 since. Still, that’s light years better than the Heat, who lost for the 33rd time in 36 games and extended the NBA’s worst record to 11-52. Ricky Davis led Miami with 27 points, Shawn Marion added 15 points and 17 rebounds and the Heat raced out to a 14-2 lead, but that slipped away by the time the first quarter was over.

Celtics 111, SuperSonics 82

BOSTON — Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen each scored 18 points to lift Boston to its 10th straight victory. Paul Pierce added 14 points and 11 assists for Boston, which improved to 12-0 at home against the Western Conference. Kevin Durant scored 16 points for Seattle, which dropped its sixth straight and has lost 10 of 11. The Sonics had no answers on defense as the Celtics operated effortlessly and had 31 assists on 45 field goals. Boston’s average margin of victory in the last five games is 21 points. Seattle has allowed 112 points per game during its losing streak.
